Summary	Default Template Causing Breakages
Description	<p>Fresh install of US 4.4.02 using the default theme. Found several pages/areas where javascript onclick links did not work. Examples are dropdown menus, Notification menu option, New Message button on Messages.php page. When digging in to this I found that some pages the footer is pointed to <br />require_once $abs_us_root.$us_url_root.'users/includes/html_footer.php';<br /><br />Other pages that are working are pointed to <br />require_once $abs_us_root . $us_url_root . 'usersc/templates/' . $settings->template . '/footer.php';</p> <p>In users/includes/html_footer.php there is a single line which points to "usersc/includes/footer.php"<br />this file is blank so the needed javascript file or any other template files do not load.</p> <p>I worked around this issue by copying usersc/templates/default/footer.php to usersc/includes/footer.php, then remarking out "<?php require_once($abs_us_root.$us_url_root.'users/includes/html_footer.php'); ?>" from usersc/templates/default/footer.php so that it will work regardless of whether the page has been updated to use footer.php or not updated and points to html_footer.php</p> <p>Also noticed a few pages with a styling issue. The thankyou page after registering is a black (#333) page with black text. Same for message.php.</p> <p> </p>

This is an ongoing issue with the new template system.  <p style="font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; widows: 2; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; word-spacing: 0px;">We should explore the opportunity if replacing data in the existing html and page footers to redirect to the new, and potentially empty the header or nav to resolve header issues? The other option is to make prominent information made available so developers know to upgrade their installations with the new lines of code.

These are being fixed on a per-page basis.   I don't think they're all as simple as changing the footer. I'd like to talk to the original submitter to see his findings.
